Date: July 29 2005 Cache Valley Electric begins construction on Nucor Steel project in Trinidad Cache Valley Electric recently began construction on a relocated Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) facility in Trinidad. Nucor Steel owns and operates this facility, which will produce 1.8 million tons of DRI per year. The DRI product will supplement Nucor’s steel production at sites throughout the United States. This facility was originally owned and operated in Convent, Louisiana by American Iron Reduction. Nucor purchased the equipment and relocated it to Trinidad. CVE assisted in dismantling the equipment and preparing it for shipment. This project is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2006. CVE's Project Manager is Mike Perkes and Dale Owens is directing field operations. . CVE is also performing the electrical engineering for this facility under the direction of Dave Boudrero. This is CVE’s second international project with Nucor Steel. |
